A few days ago, on January 20, The Sun escorted Pluto into Aquarius, a huge shift in the collective awakening process. This FULL MOON reflects of light of the Pluto-infused Sun. Pluto’s orbit of 248 years gives it an extended visit through each sign, as this god of death and rebirth evokes particular sign-related themes of deep transformation in the collective consciousness. We will each become increasingly aware of what Pluto in Aquarius means personally, starting on this Full Moon and onward into February as the personal planets— Mercury (on February 5), Mars (on February 13), and Venus (on February 16)— enter Aquarius to have a rendezvous with the power planet. What a time we are in for! No dawdling, as Pluto gets right into the mix. Mars and Venus actually conjunct on February 21-22, under the auspices of Pluto, at 5+ Aquarius.
Wait! Isn’t that the solar degree on this Full Moon? Yes, it is!
It is also the punctuation point (6+ Leo, opposing Pluto) where Mars turns retrograde in December of this year, a hot spot in play well into 2025. So this Full Moon ‘sets up’ events to come sooner and later.
Current celestial choreography continues to astound me. I have been noticing more and more how the orbits of the planets interplay in loops, cycling around to ‘ping’ certain degrees that are activated earlier or later. Retrograde planets clearly do that. Other planetary cycles do that as well, in shorter or longer loopings. This perspective is informed by my almost ix decades of astrology studies. Even without following astrology, you have likely felt such looping back around in your life time in a way that weaves in personal meaning. This Full Moon likely has evident repercussions related to February’s Venus-Mars conjunction, and later to the Mars retrograde, both impacted by Pluto in world transforming ways. Some of us will be more tuned in than others.
If you have planets in the early degrees of Aquarius, you have likely been feeling the intense underground drumbeat vibrations of Pluto already last spring on its first, brief foray into Aquarius. Empowered now with the Solar Life Force, Pluto is drawing more attention to imminent changes that emerge from the current global chaos and the ‘changing of the guard,’ we could say. The shift from Capricorn to Aquarius makes a world of difference, as we shall soon begin to see.
Meanwhile let’s consider more of the dynamics and potentials to be revealed under the light of this Full Moon and through its waning.
It’s not like this Full Moon really snuck up on me— I have been watching the growing crescent—but it feels like it! 2024 started at a fast pace, with an altered sense of Time, are you experiencing this? I didn’t make ample space to finish writing this Full Moon post before the lunation. So I’ll start you out with this and shortly follow up with an audio file to further interpret this Full Moon. Some key points include:
*Continuing Pluto influence;
*Mercury/Mars square North Node destiny line and Chiron— swift action toward innovation and restructuring even as dismantling of old systems continues;
*Jupiter and Haumea square Moon/Sun, forms grand cross of sustaining energy;
*Varuna conjunct the Moon, Vedic god of Universal Law and Cosmic Justice;
*Black Moon Flash Point in Earth sign triangle, nuanced demonstration of Natural Law;
*Uranus turns direct, all planets full steam ahead (until April).
