During a Ring-of-Fire Solar Eclipse, the Moon's disk does not fully cover the Sun, showing a circle of sunlight making a halo around the dark disk of the Moon. Dramatic cosmic beauty. Shall we jump through into whatever newness this Eclipse leads us into?
Central Theme: Relationship
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
There is a field. I’ll meet you there.” -Rumi
The Nodes of the Moon, the collective destiny line, indicate eclipse points.
This eclipse, on the South Node is square to Pluto, emphasizing a peak of the collective turning choice point we have been poised at for some months now.
Relationships of all kinds are in the cross-hairs here. We are at, weighing, comparing and contrasting lead to letting go of relationships that have come to the end of their growth potential; some are recalibrated, picking up threads from the past that change the dynamic in some relationships. Balance, fairness, justice, negotiating and renegotiating are strong themes for the Scales of Libra. Some treaties have been broken; some agreements are obsolete and in need of breaking.
Pluto just stationed at 27 Capricorn 53, staying at that particular degree from September Equinox through to the end of this eclipse month. This is the very degree of Pluto in the chart of the USA, the last peak of that nation’s first Pluto return, in prime time since last year. Death and Rebirth in process. Does it look like that to you?
I will likely have more thoughts to share on this….
The Sabian Symbol for 22 Libra:
"A Child Giving Birds a Drink at a Fountain,"
Such a lovely and tender picture of the child and the birds reminds us of our relationship with Nature and the Earth we live on. With both Pluto and Uranus in earth signs, Capricorn and Taurus respectively, these collective consciousness planets bring attention to our experience on-the-ground in the material world and that we need to bring awakened conscious to renegotiate how we are living on Earth—in harmony or not. The answer is obvious at this time. This is one of the turning point issues of this eclipse season.
Venus, Mercury, Mars all change signs
Venus, Goddess of Love, rules Libra. After an unusual four months in Leo, including a 42-day retrograde, Venus completed that circle in Leo and stepped into Virgo on October 8-9. Mercury, after an extra stint in Virgo, is now in Libra, sharing lots of mind-altering news during this eclipse season. And Mars has just moved into its power sign, Scorpio. All three personal planets changing sign certainly changes the tone of our day-to-day, along with this seasonal shift.
Mercury already did some work with personal 'messes' and rearrangements during its August-September retrograde in Virgo. Now, with Venus in Virgo, the third Earth sign, we continue to sort out and rearrange our priorities. Let your physical vehicle help with such sifting and improvements re pragmatic matters. We can get a lot done now that can make our lives better.
Mars entered Scorpio, its own sign, just in time for this New Moon. Intensity increases. No more ‘nice guy’, Mars is much less accommodating now than in Libra. Strong will and relentlessness. Power issues. Military activity. Mars is featured on the upcoming Full Moon eclipse. What is activated between now and then, as the Moon waxes, starting out in Scorpio on October 15-16. Mars joins and activates Dwarf Planet Haumea, Hawai’ian birthing goddess, that re-entered Scorpio on October 1. Right out of the eclipse gate, this pair evokes creative passion for this new Era.
Venus retrograde in Leo has put us through a deep emotional process of values clarification — especially with the Black Moon influence, a Black Madonna, deep, dark Feminine Divine pushing us very deep into our hearts and souls. Navaratri, nine days honoring various faces of the Goddess, is celebrated right out of this eclipse, October 15-24—very timely. She is very close to us now, intimately accessible if you so desire.
How you feeling at this point, after this such challenging few months knocked most of us off our balance, and certainly out of any complacency, assumptions or illusions that things are going move along in any semblance of 'normal'. Complacency is defined by Merriam-Webster as " a feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger, trouble, or controversy". With Pluto's challenging stance at the end of Capricorn, we are necessarily, insistently and uncompromisingly seeing more deeply what has been and is going on behind the closed doors of power players. Hopefully we are more aware of the choices we face at this point, this crossroads in our global and personal experience.
Venus opposite Saturn
Let's take note that Venus in Virgo, loving the sensuality and harmonic details and aesthetics of the natural world, is opposite task-master Saturn in highly sensitive Pisces. Our task is to raise our vibrational level in response to the changing rhythm of Nature. The dance is changing, offering us a co-creative challenge to uplift our energy field, focusing on the positive, to appreciate beauty in all the small things, including our personal environment and taking care to fine-tune our own highly intelligent bodies for increased wellness and stresslessness. Let's go for EASE. That is one of my priorities! That's how I want to live! It's up to us, our personal responsibility. We are in charge! Medical professionals are not commonly trained in the ways of Natural healing. Watch for the nuances that Earth demonstrates constantly, putting what you need in your path. Let's see how much more resonance we can create. How can we serve Nature? Those birds need a drink. Keep to the task at hand, and don't get overly distracted by the global movie. It's hard to know what is really going on, so let's not get obsessed and stressed. EASE, please!
This is my first take on Venus opposite Saturn in this sign combination. Find your own meaning, from what you are experiencing, to make a harmonic relationship between these two. Take what you have learned from the Venus retrograde, from what has stirred in your heart, to bring more pleasure and satisfaction into your life. Saturn and Venus suggest longterm relationship potentials. What are the longterm potentials of any relationship in your life? Some may be complete. At such major moments as coming out of a Venus retrograde cycle, in the process of a Pluto sign change, and especially at the cusp of new ERA, we may find we are heading in different directions. We each have to make our own individual choices now about what path to carve out as we move onward.
Chiron & Eris-Zena opposite Eclipse
Relationships are implied by astrological oppositions, involving two signs opposite each other. On this Libra North Node Eclipse, referring to the past, we need to engage the opposing North Node in Aries point to be activated for balance. This eclipse calls for the initiative of fire sign Aries Here we find CHiron, the teacher-healer. We become more aware of any habitual tendency to accommodate others. How has that gone for you recently? Problems show up if we are not standing centered in our personal clarity. That is Aries, that is our North Node leading edge. What works for you? Is there a win-win option? State your case and listen to the Other. Opposite this Libra New Moon eclipse, Chiron at 17+ Aries calls us to explore some new adventurous path as a way to heal and align with the new frequencies alighting Earth and all on and in this planet.
Eris (aka Zena, Warrior, Healer, Queen), taking a stand right on the North Node insists that we each stand in our integrity, walking the unique path that is our way to invent as we go. This clearly takes clarity and courage. She dares us to be true to ourselves, as uncompromisingly as Pluto. Those two have a pact for raw exposure and transformation.
This eclipse-driven Moon cycle indicates that this is the month of the turning of the collective tide, with waves that ripple out round the world the rest of this year and even into 2024. The Total Solar Eclipse of April 8 in Aries is a powerful and resonant eclipse that mirrors this one. The eclipses this year (do you remember that powerful 'hybrid' eclipse last April 20th? Eclipses build on each other, almost like bridges that mark a time of crossing. with another potent indication that takes us to another level of our collective journey (and our personal experiences of this extraordinary transition time into a new Era).
Dwarf planet, Eris-Zena, clear about who she is, is right on the North Node, leading the way to stand in our truth, our integrity. Put it on the line, she says. Be fearless. Especially with Pluto square the Nodes, sub-surface agendas are exposed that bring new light to the situation we are in, both personal and collective—informing us about our relationship to the collective. Chiron indicates there is unhealed history at play. We need to see how the past has led up to this moment. Then, renewed understanding evokes fresh possibilities. A change of perspective, indeed, a change of consciousness is in progress, a rewiring or lighting up of our brains. We have been so brain-washed in this world, we need to consult our hearts.
The coming Full Moon on October 28-29, a highlighted point in the Moon cycle, is another whopper of a lunation. In Taurus, with Sun in Scorpio, this partial Lunar Eclipse hearkens back to eclipse themes of the last year and a half. Attention to the financial arena once again takes centerstage. On many levels, Taurus and Scorpio pick up and resolve any loose ends and digs up some leftovers weeds that can interfere with positive growth. Dwarf planet Haumea, in her 283-yer-orbit, is done with Libra. After close scrutiny, she has made her choice, have you? In Scorpio as of October 1, she is putting her creative passion into revitalization and renewal. What does that look like for you, for us all? More about that later. Meanwhile:
HOLD CLOSE IN YOUR HEART A CLEAR VISION OF WHAT IT IS THAT YOU WANT, HOW YOU WANT TO BE LIVING AS WE CONTINUE TO CROSS BRIDGES INTO OUR NEW, MORE HARMONIOUS WORLD.
